In an effort to document important movements forward in this effort and to provide a more global perspective on the accomplishments of design team leaders and design teams, here will be published some of the landmark steps made in birthing each new school.

- Simmon shared site committee convenes for the first time! 1/06

- CCPA and USFA members visit Pruess 6-12 school, Gompers Middle School, High Tech High and High Tech Middle School in San Diego. 11/05

- Havenscourt shared site committee convenes for the first time! 2/06

- Secondary design team leaders visit KIPP San Lorenzo and MetWest High School in Oakland. 11/05

- Secondary schools visit Gompers Middle School in San Diego which has made dramatic changes in a very short time with its 900 students, who previously experienced riots 1001 suspension and 18 teacher vacancies. 12/05

- Secondary design team leaders individually and with team members, including parents, visit Explore Middle School, American Indian Charter School, KIPP Bridge-Oakland, Urban Promise Academy, and CCPA has visited Lionel Wilson 6-12 School, Emery Secondary School.  11/05-1/06

- Elmhurst shared site committee convenes for the first time! 11/05

- Secondary school proposals greenlighted to open 12/05

- United for Success Academy website is unveiled at www.unitedforsuccess.com    2/06

- Coliseum College Prep Academy recieves hard fought authorization to open as a 6-12 school! 2/06

- Simmons first facility walk-through 2/6

- Havenscourt first facility walk-through 2/6

- ECP conducts its first interviews with design team members!!! 3/06

- Alliance Academy conducts its first interviews with design team members!!! 3/06

- OFCY Grants are awarded to Elmhurst, Havenscourt and Simmons sites 3/06

- UFSA conducts its first interviews with design team members!!! 3/06

- Peralta Creek conducts its first classroom observations and interviews with design team members!!! 3/06

- Coliseum College Prep Academy begins working with their BayCES coach...UPA's former Coach Joel!  3/06

- Alliance gets its first English teacher and math teacher.   3/06

- Simmons Site Leaders meet with special ed. to forge a new path for students.   3/06

- Cynthia of PCMS, Maria & Rosemary of Alliance, Connie of Roots, and Deanita & Charlene of CCPA begin the courageous work as parents of sitting on the hiring committee's for their design teams.   3/06 

- All leaders receive the names of their founding classes of students!!!  3/06 

- Peralta Creek has offered its first teaching positions to candidates.  3/06

- USFA has offered its first teaching positions to candidates.  3/06

- USFA gets its first 3 humanities teachers and 2 math/science teachers.  3/06

- Roots and CCPA hold a family event that brings out over 200 people!  Event includes folklorico performances, hip hop dance, and PCA presentation, break-out groups, lunch and games, and was attended by a middle school executive officer and the Chief of Community Accountability.  5/06
 
- UFSA Holds its first annual Bodega Bay Retreat with great "success" accomplishing many school design goals 5/06

- Alliance holds its first retreat at the leaders apartment!  The team accomplished many goal! 5/06

- CCPA, PCMS, UFSA visit Wildwood school in LA and attend the advisory workshop learning many facets of what a great advisory shuold look like!  5/06

- UFSA holds a very successful family night with over 150 attendees!  5/06

- The facilities division of Simmons, Havenscourt, and Elmhurst is complete and each school has a vision for how it will share the site as three schools and as two.   5/06

- Havenscourt has a leadership change for the 8th grade school that provides opportunities for collaboratino as a shared site.  5/06

- Leaders attend a variety of Job Fairs in the interest of filling a still wide pool of vacancies.  6/06

- Leaders attend a workshop with Lillian Lopez, OCO small schools movement founder, regarding her advice and experiences as a parent organizer.  5/06

- Leaders attend a workshop with Elena Aguilar, founding teacher at ASCEND, discussing her work through expeditionary learning and providing a context for a comprehensive humanities program.  5/06

- Leaders attend workshop provided by Instructional Services in Math, ELD, and ELA programs and curriculum.  5/06

- CCPA, UFSA leaders attend the 6th Annual All Oakland Talent Show.   5/06

- UFSA partners with MOCHA for arts integration coaching and professional development.  5/06

- ALLIANCE, CCPA, ECP, PCMS, ROOTS, and UFSA partner with Debra Coggins for professional development in Connected Math integration and Math for the English Learner PD.  4/06

- PCMS and UFSA partner with the Peralta Hacienda Historical Park to engage in Humanities and leadership development programming.  5/06

-Design teams share their visions and what makes them special to the Board!
UFSA does their chant and so does PLACE @ Prescott 6/06

-Secondary New School network holds there first session with Debra Coggins for the Middle School Math Project integrating Connected Math with the OUSD Adoption. 6/06
